The wording is taken from the actual SR-71 flight manual so needless to say half this stuff is going right over. The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird was an American strategic reconnaissance airplane manufactured by Lockheed. It comes with an extensive flight manual that they recommend mentally consuming before flying. There’s no shortage of interesting talks and documentaries on the SR-71. I recently purchased the FSX-ready SR-71 from AlphaSim and the level of detail and flight dynamics is incredible. If you like them, consider making a donation on his site. I recently came across these three great videos about the SR-71 shot by Eric Johnston of the Veteran Tales Project. FSX Acceleration has a much more detailed and realistic Edwards scenery with more static aircraft on display and a few hangars to fly through.
Update: If you’re young and play your cards right you could get the opportunity to fly the SR-71’s likely successor, the SR-72, at speeds twice as fast! An astute reader just posted a link on our Facebook page to an interesting article from Aviation Week. Beware that the SR-71s will be parked at different locations if you have FSX Acceleration installed.
